Dear Old Farts’ supporters and riders,
RIDE and Social – Saturday 23 July 2022
We hope you are well, and that you are looking forward to getting back on your bike, and having some long-awaited camaraderie with the Old Farts.
It has been a while since we last undertook some serious fundraising. Sadly, our funds are depleting, as we have tried to support some causes during COVID. Following the successful ‘Ride for Ian’, many Old Farts asked for a ride this year – so the Committee have been busy planning.
As many riders have not been on a bike for a while, we agreed to keep the ride to an achievable 30 miles, whilst offering shorter distances to encourage all riders. It means this year’s ride will be more inclusive and E-bikes are also welcomed. Additionally, there may be a children’s ride, around Roath Park Lake.
The ride 2022 will start at 9:00 am from The Three Arches.
| Group 1 | Ride to Cardiff Bay, via Taff Embankment, Coffee at Coffi co containers. Return via reverse route, back to The Three Arches. |
| Group 2 | Ride down to Coffi co at Bay with Group 1, through Penarth, on to Cosmeston Lakes car park and café, return via Lavernock Road, Penarth, Cardiff Bay and back to The Three Arches. |
| Group 3 | Ride with Groups 1 and 2, on to Penarth, Cosmeston Lakes, Lavernock Road, Barry Docks then Barry Island for coffee at Marco’s. Return via Lavernock Road, Penarth, Cardiff Bay and back to The Three Arches. |
- There will be support for all groups. It is hoped that everyone will gather at the Three Arches, for the arrival of Group 3. Following the ride, there will be a social event in the function room of The Three Arches.
- Contribution will be £10 per rider (£5 children), plus as much sponsorship as you can get. New and old members are welcome. For safety reasons, riders are asked to follow the Old Farts’ riding code of conduct and to wear cycle helmets. Please wear Old Farts’ cycling jerseys, otherwise pink and/ or purple colours.
- A sponsor form is attached, to either download and complete online, or print. Riders can pay and/ or buy raffle tickets, via bank transfer. Bank details to follow.
